PVFS2: A Parallel File System for Linux Clusters
Session:
BoF-05
Event Type:
BOF
Time:
5:15pm - 6:45pm
Speaker(s)
:
Robert B Ross, Robert J Latham
Location:
602-604
Abstract:
PVFS2 is a parallel file system for Linux clusters developed primarily at Argonne National Lab and Clemson University, with contributions from a large and active user community.
In this session we will discuss the current status of the PVFS2 project. PVFS2 is designed specifically for large scale clusters running computational science applications. As such its design is much better suited to this environment than general purpose solutions. We released PVFS2 one year ago at the SC 2004 BoF, and several sites have already put it into production use. We will describe the capabilities of the existing system and offer a look at future directions for our project.
We invite anyone interested to join us for our fourth SC BoF session. Following the scheduled presentations on these projects, many of the PVFS2 developers will be present for an open forum discussion.
