Cutting-Edge Trends in Clustered Storage
Session:
Storage 2
Event Type:
Exhibitor Forum
Time:
4:30pm - 5:00pm
Session Chair
:
Kathleen Smith
Speaker(s)
:
Sujal Patel
Location:
615-616
Abstract:
Three macro trends are driving the need for intelligent clustered storage systems today: the avalanche of digital content and unstructured data being created, the strong desire to pair industry standard hardware with smart software to achieve cost savings and performance advantages, and the fundamental technology paradigm shift to clustered computing architectures.
Because the scalability of clustered network storage systems addresses the enormous and rapid growth of digital content in today’s businesses without putting cost or complexity burdens companies, analysts have indicated that it is the next evolution in storage, delivering capabilities beyond what traditional storage systems were designed for, and will be a core infrastructure for grid computing going forward.
Isilon sits at the nexus of these major trends and the release of its new products represents its complete focus on delivering significant business and workflow benefits to customers.
During this discussion, Isilon Systems Founder and CTO Sujal Patel will:
· Talk about the latest technological breakthroughs in clustered storage.
· Discuss the trend companies are seeing as they rapidly expand capacity – and the need to invest in storage solutions that seamlessly continue to operate, with 100 percent data availability, while simultaneously recovering failed disks or even entire nodes.
· Advise attendees about the need for scalability and reliability in storage and the issues to be aware of when evaluating solutions; such as the need to scale capacity within a single file system – to as much as, or more than, 150 Terabytes – while maintaining performance and data integrity.
