Tutorials will be held on Sunday, November 13 and Monday, November 14.
This year's tutorial program is offering a compelling lineup of popular past topics and several brand new ones. Twenty-seven tutorials were chosen from a competitive field of 62 submissions. The SC2005 conference will be offering 13 full-day tutorials and 14 half-day tutorials covering more than a dozen topics. Separate registration is required for tutorials; tutorial notes and luncheons will be provided on site for each tutorial attendee. A One- or Two-day Tutorial Passport allows attendees the flexibility to attend multiple tutorials. In addition, we are continuing an innovation begun last year where any registered technical program conference attendee has the option to purchase all of the tutorial handout material on a CD-ROM.
The SC2005 tutorial program includes exciting new offerings presented by some of the world's leading experts in high performance computing. The program offerings span a wide range of current topics, including HPC languages (including MPI, OpenMP, UPC and parallel Matlab), grid computing, Blue Gene Light, reconfigurable supercomputing, trends in supercomputer architectures, Infiniband, benchmarking, network security, data mining, performance modeling, analysis and tuning, and visualization. Several new topics will be offered including presentations on analytics in support of the new conference challenge theme of HPC Analytics. We are also featuring the return of Parallel Computing 101, the perfect introduction for new attendees to the SC conference.
The tutorials program features a number of hands-on tutorials. To participate in the hands-on tutorials, attendees should bring their own laptops. Wired network drops and power drops will be provided in the hands-on tutorial rooms. Students are encouraged to bring their own Ethernet cables the longer, the better. Please arrive early for hands-on tutorials; there may be tutorial-specific software that you must install on your laptop. There will be no software support available during the tutorials.
See the Tutorials-at-a-Glance table below for a list of this year's tutorials; more in-depth information is available at the SC|05 interactive schedule at sc05.supercomp.org/schedule/schedule.php
